About andu amet
What is andu amet?
A leather brand that luxuriously uses the finest sheepskin, which is as soft as silk and as light as feather.
The brand name “andu amet” means “one year” in Amuharic, the language used in Ethiopia.
The name originates from the idea that we wish to create a product that is "like a special partner who is always by your side - whether you are happy or sad - and spend a long time together.” The highly original design inspired by the majestic nature of Africa, and the sheepskin so soft and exquisite that it makes us happy the moment we touch it, are the main qualities.

Message from the representative
A bag is something that is always with us; from when we go to work, to when we go out to dinner with our friends or shopping on weekends. We can feel calm and relaxed when we are with it. That, "something like our partner", is what I wanted to create.
Ethiopian sheepskin - known as the best leather in the world -, excellent handiwork by craftsmen, and the fusion of beautiful traditional crafts of Africa and Japan: we are particular about all processes from designing, material procurement, manufacturing to distribution. We hope that you take in your hands the one and only piece of work in the world that we have created with our soul. We are proud to say that it is a product that has so much charm that you can hardly let it go once you have touched it. This is what we make.CEO and designer

Biography
Since childhood, Samejima was deeply influenced by the altruistic spirit of her grandmother's interactions with others. Her childhood experience of living in Iran during the Iran-Iraq War era also had an impact on her values and way of thinking. After advancing her studies in Japan, she worked for a cosmetics manufacturer as a designer. However, during that time, she started to question the mass production and consumption system that creates beautiful things only to discard them. This created her motivation to go and volunteer in Ethiopia and Ghana. While organizing and hosting fashion shows in these countries, she encountered the world's finest Ethiopian sheepskin and talented artisans. However, she also witnessed a societal structure where high-quality leather is exported to developed countries, as inexpensive raw hides, and then transformed into luxury goods by global brands. She also learned that this was due to the immature processing technology in the country. Upon returning home, after working as a marketing specialist at CHANEL Corporation, she founded andu amet Co., Ltd. in 2012, an ethical and luxurious leather brand. She pursues sustainability throughout the entire supply chain, from leather procurement to production and sales. Her achievements have been highly recognized, earning her numerous awards. Currently, she actively engages in speaking engagements both domestically and internationally as a pioneer in ethical fashion, while shuttling between Ethiopia, the production country, and Japan.
